Altheria, The Everbright
Altheria, The Everbright Revered as the patron of the eponymous city, Altheria, the Everbright emerged as a beacon of hope during the darkest days of the Blight. Her presence is believed to be the divine force behind the miraculous Barrier that protects its inhabitants. Unlike the deities whose miracles had ceased with the onset of the Blight, Altheria's power was evident through the Barrier's unwavering protection. Her followers, particularly the devoted Veilkeepers, interpret the Barrier as a sacred veil, a tangible manifestation of her enduring light against the encroaching despair of the Blightlands. Worship of Altheria often involves acts of communal support and the cultivation of resilience, reflecting her role as a symbol of collective strength and unwavering optimism in a sundered world. Altheria is the only god with chosen followers able to perform miracles anymore; there is a great deal of speculation about what happened to the gods during the blight, why they've seemingly gone silent, whether the barrier is Old Magic or actual divine power, and what even Altheria is. While some believe that Altheria might simply be an aspect of Aelandra, others speculate that the trickster god, Rel, is actually responsible for the barrier, hiding the Last Bastion from the Blight in his ultimate act of trickery... except it supposedly worked too well and he's hidden it from even the gods themselves now. Many others, particularly the mages of Sigilkeep, hold fast to the idea that Altheria is some awakened Old Magic of the Ancients - one which may be the key to retaking the world.
