Nyth, The Keeper
+
God of the hearth, home, comfort, and cats. He is represented as a black cat
with pale blue eyes. Many households keep cats for protection, or at the very
least place a cat figurine in the window to watch over them. It's said that
finding the figurine in bed with you, or finding a real cat snuggled with you in
the morning, is a sign of Nyth's favor and blessing. An old myth cautions
against turning away a stray cat at your door for fear of banishing a messenger
of Nyth. In these dark times, many flock to Nyth's hearth, finding comfort and
community. His clerics are often sought for advice in trying times, a listening
and understanding ear for those who may have no one else to turn to. Those
acquiring new homes usually seek his blessing. Small personal shrines are often
found in the houses of his followers, on the mantle above the hearth where a cat
figurine keeps watch over the home.
