You were fortunate to have lived and grown up in a place that was not
affected by the Blight, or were too young to have experienced or remembered
it firsthand. Unlike the waves of refugees who arrived in Altheria, you
weren't forced from your home, and didn't necessarily experience the ravages
of the Blight directly. You came to Altheria by choice or grew up there.
If you were alive when the Blight came, perhaps you grew up in a proverbial
ivory tower insulated from the rest of the world. If you were born after the
Blight, you'd have no memory of the world that came before; its people and
places would be merely myths and legends told in stories to you.
This sheltered backstory may color your attitude toward the cataclysm. You
might be apathetic toward it, having had no direct encounter with the
Blight. Or perhaps you might view it as some kind of divine justice for the
morally bankrupt masses. Maybe you feel quite the opposite and seek to
altruistically help out refugees in any way you can. Perhaps you spend more
time dwelling on your own future rather than the past like so many others
do. While there's no denying the reality of the disaster, there are
certainly many different attitudes about it.
Note that this option limits your choice of cultures to just Vaelandris and
Altheria, since these are the only places that were spared from the Blight's
ravages.
