You lived in Deepmountain, a sprawling vertical city carved onto and inside
a great mountain range far to the south, and the ancestral home of the
Urden. The city was a true wonder of engineering with cantilevered bridges
spanning different mountains that made up different vertical districts of
the massive place and aetheric mechanisms that moved stone and person alike
throughout. You were proud to have called it your home and mourned its loss
to the Blight.
Though Urden were the most common residents of Deepmountain, they welcomed
most who wanted to contribute to their city, particularly those with the
relevant skills. Continuous construction and maintainance of Deepmountain
was their way of life.
The culture of Deepmountainers can appear gruff to outsiders at times. They
were traditionally parsimonious with their language; metaphor and euphemism
were generally seen as unnecessarily confusing. They instead preferred to
tell you exactly what was on their mind in the most direct way possible,
without mincing words. This directness can often seem off-putting to others,
particularly Vaelandrians, who value the richness of language and are much
more careful with their words.
Deepmountaineers work together and don't attach a strong value to
individuality. In addition, they care little for typical gender expression,
and traditional fashion does not assign gender-specific clothing or
appearance styles.
