Inner Wilds

Few people inhabited the small enclaves of the Inner Wilds, a seemingly
endless untamed place in the southern interior of the continent of Aelus,
far from Galrathia and the other nations. The communities of the Wilds were
hardy and had to tame the bogs and fens of their homeland in order to be
able to survive.

Wilders valued their self-reliance, strong will, and their ability to make
an otherwise inhospitable place home. Wilder enclaves were few and far
between, with each having its own leaders and managed independently from the
others. Most had begun as displaced Zilaran tribes that grew to accept all
ancestries, striving together to overcome the swamplands. They were largely
left alone by the New Kingdoms, given the lack of obvious strategic value of
the Wilds and the logistical difficulty in conquering or even trying to
govern them.

When the Blight came, the landscape did little to slow its advance, and it
wasn't long before the Wilds were fully consumed, despite the preparations
of the wilders.
