You lived among the Eldekai nomads of the Northern Steppes and view your
community as your extended family. Taking care of and protecting your family
is your first priority, and you would gladly give your life to ensure their
safety.
The people of the steppes are largely Eldekai, as it is their ancestral
home. It is rare for the Eldekai to take in people of other ancestries and
treat them as family. Thus, if you are not Eldekai, something extraordinary
such as a sacrifice or blood oath in your own past or that of your parents
secured your position as a member of this culture, and regardless of your
ancestry, it is your family.
Denizens of the Steppes have a looser relationship with death compared to
other cultures. Death was commonplace on the Steppes, and scouts would
frequently give their lives to stave off a great threat so their family
could escape. Deaths are mourned quietly and quickly, with the nomads
believing that upon death, one becomes a kind of otherworldly scout for
their family, warning about dangers through dreams and omens so as to
safeguard the future.
